Methods

It is said that a picture worth a thousand words

Call us for an online demo of the Information Presenter. We will be delighted to show and explain to you how it works, and suggest how it could increase your revenue, advance your cause, help you provide more information to your audience and in improved ways, reduce your advertising and web development costs, and so on, as these respectively apply to your organization. We can also give you a test app and access to its online slide library to try it all for yourself.

General

  • Customers receive their own custom edition of the software which they provide to the users.
  • Each edition includes selected features most suitable for the particular application of the app.
  • Each edition is customized for the customer including name, logo, embedded images, help articles, links to the customer website and so on.
  • Customers also receive a dedicated website with database to provide data to the users through the app.

Method of Work for Schools and Universities

The "Information Presenter" can help students learn more efficiently and retain their knowledge, as well as find and fill any gaps in it. Most generally, you can think of flashcards to get a basic idea and direction of understanding of how the software works for students. The software enables schools to implement several scientifically proven learning strategies (see https://www.edutopia.org/article/why-students-forget-and-what-you-can-do-about-it), including:
  • Peer-to-peer explanations (currently only indirectly)
  • The spacing effect
  • Frequent practice tests
  • Interleave concepts
  • Combine text with images

Architecture

As with most types of deployments the Information Presenter for schools and universities has two parts:
  1. A desktop app which the students use to learn while using their computers for any purpose, and
  2. A web-database where teachers and students provide information to the desktop part.

Method of work

  • The desktop app is always visible on the student computer as an un-obstructive tiny window.
  • Using a click on the app, the student can open the currently loaded slide for full view.
  • Teachers create online slides from their notes at the end of the day or week, or reuse existing slides.
  • Students can create slides as home or course work, which the teacher only approves.
  • Slides are added as the course of the study progresses and remain available to students until they graduate.
  • Slides are three types: image, video, and document. To create slides is extremely easy.
  • Slides have optional Properties.
  • The slide properties provide additional information about the slide, as well as,
  • Enable students to learn by topic. For example, a student can request the app to display all slides that mention the Pythagorean Theorem, which will include the tuition slides, as well as slides of solutions that reference it added to the library throughout the studies of the students.
  • Slides can point to internet pages for further information.

Benefits

  • Enables continuous learning
  • Helps students to maintain their knowledge
  • Helps students discover gaps in their knowledge
  • Improves the quality of learning due to reminding material from previous years
  • Helps students learn by participating in the teaching
  • Receive acknowledgment for participating in the teaching
  • Enables teachers to provide unlimited, structured, search-able, and persistent information
  • Complements the schools’ website and other teaching aids
  • Can help involve students in extracurricular activities of the school, etc.

The Information Presenter can help in most disciplines, from art and languages, through sciences, to mathematics, as well as in extracurricular activities. Schools can also allow parents to use the software, thus creating an even more beneficial learning ecosystem.

Comparison between the Information Presenter and a website

The Information Presenter will complement and support your website. Remember that you can link the Information Presenter slides to the pages of your website, enabling the user to navigate from a slide to your website with a click.
The Information Presenter makes information available at any time with a single click, stimulating enjoyment and gradual buildup of knowledge.
A website makes information random-access accessible but only after a dedicated search and navigation, which requires a conscious effort.
Website
The Information Presenter
1. Induction
Requires a conscious thought to visit the website.
The current slide is always visible as a small window and is available to open and view in detail with a single click. Thus a glance at the app, or a slide transition, may induce the user to open it.
2. Frequency
Typically low frequency of visiting by the same visitor. There usually are no external prompts to invite the user to visit the website again, even if there is plenty of content on it. Momentary breaks from work to visit a website are impossible, as navigating a website requires time.
Typically high frequency of viewing. Since slides are usually always visible, they stimulate the user to open and view them. The software is interactive and engaging but never disturbing.
3. Effort
Finding random information of interest on a website requires time and effort to navigate and search for it.
It is easy to click and open the current slide and view its content, as well as to load the of the next one, or navigate to the slide webpage.
4. Image viewing experience
Image presentation on websites can be from poor to good:
  • poor – images have fixed size in the webpages;
  • mediocre – images are opened in a larger frame;
  • good - excellent zooming, but limited within the browser window losing at least 5% from the screen. On multi-screen systems, the browser can be manually sized-up to cover more than one monitor, but then requires manual sizing-down, both of which are distracting, unpleasant, and time-consuming.
Provides excellent image viewing experience on all screens:
  • utilizes 100% of the screen area on single and multi-screen systems giving the largest possible viewing space;
  • unrestricted software zoom to show the smallest details;
  • fast single click open/close slide commands;
  • convenient keyboard and menu commands;
  • fit-to-image and fit-to-screen commands;
  • easy mouse and keyboard control of the opened slides.
5. Capacity
Impractical to display large volumes of image information. For example, to publish an archive of 1,000 images of historic architectural drawings on a website would require a massive amount of work for very few views.
Very efficient to display large amounts of visual information. For example, to beneficially publish 1,000,000 images is as easy as uploading them. Properties can be added to and removed from slides at any time from the easy to use web-interface.
6. Variety
To find something new on a website, provided that there is, the visitor must explore the site systematically. Most people will not bother. Alternatively, the website homepage must be updated constantly.
The Information Presenter provides slides at a rate selected by the user from the edition's slide library. The application stimulates providing and viewing of varied information.
7. Learning
Information, if provided, can be studied systematically. However, learning requires conscious effort and persistence.
Knowledge is gained continuously, one item at a time, consciously and unconsciously, interactively and engagingly. The user can get further information from the associated with the slide properties and webpage when available.
8. Construction and maintenance process
Very demanding – to create and maintain an engaging website with much visual and other information is difficult. For example, adding images to a website requires the designing of a suitable hierarchy, possibly adding a webpage for each image, adding text and other content about the image on each webpage, adding navigation, links, and so on. Changes are complex and typically break external, and often also internal, links. Construction and maintenance are both complex and time-consuming.
Extremely easy – upload the images, videos, and documents into the slide library via the administrative web-interface. Creating beautiful document slides is a breeze using the easy to use builder. Creating and assigning properties and additional information to slides is also extremely easy using the administrative web-interface. Volunteers and students can also help to develop slides, which you can make public after you review and approve. Construction and maintenance are both quick and simple.
9. Construction and maintenance skills
To create or update a website requires professional web design skills and possibly a whole IT team.
To create beautiful slides or update them does not require any web-design or IT skills.
10. Construction and maintenance costs
Very expensive ~ 40-150 USD per hour.
Practically free.

We can manufacture your app edition within days after you order it. While waiting for your order fulfillment, please prepare as many photos of your items as you could ready for upload to your online slide library. Aim for at least a few thousand images. Once you receive access to your slide library, you will be able to upload the photos as slides in minutes and establish a good online slide library right away. You can then provide your app to your audience. The next step, optionally, would be to go through the initially created image slides and assign properties to them providing information for the content on each slide and thus increasing their informational quality. The more high-quality image, video, and document slides you add to your slide library, the richer and more fascinating and engaging it will become.
